Electric industry insider William “Bill” Mohl has been selected to serve as the newest member of the ERCOT Board of Directors, according to an announcement from the Texas grid operator.

Also known as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, ERCOT oversees the state’s principal power grid. It is governed by a 12-member board and is subject to oversight by the Public Utility Commission and the Texas Legislature. Mohl joined the board effective July 28.

According to information provided by ERCOT, Mr. Mohl has more than 40 years of experience in electric and gas utilities, commodity trading, merchant generation, wholesale markets, electric power service companies, and gas processing operations — both public and private companies. He has held leadership and board positions at Shermco Industries Inc. and with the Entergy Corporation. He holds a master’s degree in business and commerce, and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Regis University. Mr. Mohl has completed a Nuclear Operations Board of Directors Course at Goizueta Director’s Institute at Emory University.

“As the electric grid evolves to meet rapid growth and change, Bill’s extensive expertise and leadership in the energy sector will support ERCOT’s commitment to delivering industry-leading grid reliability and fostering efficient market operations,” said ERCOT Board Chair Bill Flores in a prepared release.
