An online dashboard to give Texans a view of energy production on the grid from large-scale batteries has been unveiled by ERCOT.

Dubbed the “Energy Storage Resources” or “ESR” dashboard, the new online tool displays previous-day and current-day real-time information about discharging, charging, and net output from battery storage.

The ERCOT grid operator also has unveiled a separate ESR Integration Report that it will release daily. The Integration Report includes information on aggregated installed capacity of battery storage, its percentage contribution to total system load, and statistics on storage production during peak periods.

ERCOT, also known as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, unveiled both new resources on December 7.

“Energy Storage Resources (batteries) are connecting to the grid at an incredible rate and becoming a significant part of our resource mix,” said Dan Woodfin, ERCOT’s vice President of System Operations for ERCOT, explaining the utility of the new resources.

The ESR dashboard is accessible from the Grid and Market Conditions page, and the ESR Integration Report is located here. Read the Market Notice for more information.

In addition to the ESR dashboard, ERCOT also plans to add a new Outages dashboard showing planned and forced real-time generation outages to its current suite of dashboards in mid-December.
